About this Portal

This portal, created and launched by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, has several objectives. Foremost among them is facilitating direct linkage between the consumer and the producer of organic products. The portal provides extensive information about the availability of organic products in Karnataka. Also, organic-related data concerning producers, marketers, stakeholders, publications, etc. is presented in the portal. Users are given the option to search crops cluster-wise, district-wise and federation-wise. The portal also provides details of each crop regarding availability and season.

Karnataka - Organics & Millets Summary

  • 1st State to formulate Organic Farming Policy way back in 2004 and a revised Organic Farming Policy during 2017
  • Several promotional programmes resulting in nearly one lakh hectares under certified organic cultivation.
  • Stands 5th in the country in terms of total cultivated area under organic certification at 93,963 ha as on March 2016
  • 3rd in the country in terms of total certified production at 2,82,633 tons.

  • Regular Trade Fairs & exhibitions in Organics and Millets for awareness creation, promotion and to establish linkages

  • Strong customer base for organic & millet products due to extensive consumer awareness programmes
  • Around 128 organic & millet marketers/traders/processors/exporters
  • Bengaluru, the organic & millet hub of India with over 400 exclusive organic & millet outlets, more than 400 corporate retail outlets and around 20 exclusive organic/millet restaurants

  • Cereals and Millets (Non Basmati Paddy, Maize, Bajra and Ragi) and Fruits (Mango, Pineapple, Banana)
  • Spices and Condiments (Arecanut, Black Pepper, Chilli, Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger, Turmeric, Nutmeg, Parsley and Bay leaves) Sugar cane
  • Plantation crops (Coffee, Coconut)
  • Pulses (Black gram, Green gram, Bengal gram, Horse gram and Pigeon pea)
  • Oilseeds (Sesame, Groundnut and Soyabean)
